Something in the Light
LISA
We still grow from deep inside.
Who’ll be here to mark these changes?
When all we have we have to hide.

Of course it’s best that he not know.
Though, I think of ways
to share the truth with him,
but only dare, at this time, when the light
might carry me there.
LEONARDO
This choice is cursed:
return the work,
and still our sin...
just serves to make it worse.
For far from done, oh Lisa,
I have yet to begin.

Sin can not be brushed away.

I have yet to begin.
LEONARDO
How can I paint your wedding rings?
I must show what’s true inside you,
and know which songs a caged bird sings.
LEONARDO
Yet, high above
this twisted fate,

I’ll paint the view
where raging rivers
are just mist in the air,
at this time, when the light
might carry you there.

And should you escape these bars…

we’ll see something
in the light.

Who knew at first
our greatest work
still lay within?
And so we’ll stay immersed
for far from done,
